2025 Kia Tasman ute: This is what it could look like
New teaser images have allowed Drive's Photoshop guru to create the most accurate look yet at the upcoming Kia ute, due to be unveiled by the end of this year.
This is our best look yet at Kia's first dual-cab ute, the 2025 Kia Tasman.
This illustration created by friend of Drive, Theottle is based on a series of teaser images issued by Kia earlier this week of a Tasman clothed in an Australian-themed vinyl wrap.
Unlike previous test vehicles spotted here and overseas, there is no fake cladding under the wrap to disguise the true shape of the car – allowing for an accurate preview of the final design.
Among the design features that have drawn the most attention online are the black plastic panels over the wheel arches.
It is unclear if these will be standard across the range in Australia – or will be reserved for certain model grades, either here or overseas.
The Tasman's grille appears to be smaller and mounted lower on the front – with an unusual bonnet line – while there are large windows with a pronounced kink on the rear doors, and if spy photos are a guide, small tail-lights.
Dimensions for the Kia Tasman are yet to be published, but it appears the South Korean car giant's first dual-cab will be larger than its rivals, slotting between a Ford Ranger and F-150 in terms of dimensions.
Footage of the Tasman's interior has leaked – via EFTM – showing two large, circa-12-inch displays, a wand-style gear selector on the steering column, and rugged-looking styling elements.
As previously reported by Drive, the Kia Tasman – named after the sea between Australia and New Zealand, as well as the island of Tasmania – is due to be unveiled in late 2024 ahead of first Australian deliveries in mid-2025.
The new ute – developed partially in Australia – will be sold in markets such as South Korea, Australia, Africa and the Middle East, and represents the company's first diesel dual-cab pick-up.
It is due to launch with a 2.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine shared with other Hyundai and Kia models – expected to develop close to a 2.8-litre HiLux's 150kW/500Nm – with plans for an electric version at a later date.
A V6 is not expected to form part of the range at launch, nor a hybrid.
