2018 Renault Megane RS recalled
There are 580 French hot hatches that could experience engine failure due to an electrical issue.
Renault Australia has issued a recall for the 2018 model-year Megane RS hot hatch, over concerns a wiring fault could lead to engine failure.
"The oil pressure solenoid valve wiring was not manufactured to the required specifications, which may lead to engine failure," the company says in its recall notice.
"If the engine fails, the driver may experience heavier steering, loss of auxiliaries and/or need to apply much greater braking effort."
Renault says the potential fault poses an increased risk of an accident and injury to the vehicle's occupants, along with other road users.
There are 580 vehicles affected by this recall, available for sale between 30 August 2018 and 6 May 2019 – a VIN list as available here.
Owners will be contacted by Renault Australia via mail, advising to present their vehicle to their preferred dealer to arrange the inspection and rectification of their vehicle, where necessary.
