New car review: Holden Volt
The race is on to build the perfect green car, and in the Holden corner is a car of which plenty of Australia has heard - the Volt. Able to run on petrol or electricity, the Volt is the first of a new breed of plug-in hybrids designed to offer a best-of-both-worlds motoring proposition: an electric car for around town and a petrol engine for going as far as a regular car.
Borrowing major components from the Cruze small car, the Volt also gets a 198-kilogram battery cell arranged in a T under the car, as well as an electric motor, which is the only form of propulsion.
