2015 Abarth 595 Turismo Review
The Fiat Abarth 595 Tourismo, It's one of those cars that you take great pleasure in seeing parked in your driveway.
- Excellent in manual, Unique body style
- Cheap sound system , Needs telescopic steering wheel option
I was recently at a Service station and whilst paying for fuel, the attendant referred to the Abarth as a money box. Interesting analogy, but couldn't be further from the truth. While it does take a little time to set yourself up if someone has driven it before you, once settled, everything you need is within easy reach.
What impressed me was how smooth the shift changes were between gears and once you get going, you begin to appreciate the low centre of gravity of the vehicle. The Abarth holds the road beautifully, you do have to watch the bumps though which moves your body side ways. The door frame is there to remind your head just how cosy the interior is. For the money I hoped that the car stereo might have been a bit more high end. It reminds me of the sound system in a Nissan Micra.
It's typical of an Italian car though, I also own an Alfa Romeo Guilettia, you know, the one sporting that beautiful 4C engine, and for the life of me I cannot understand why it wasn't supplied with rear parking cameras. If they just managed to focus on the little things that add to the make up of the driving experience, the Italians would be onto an absolute winner. That aside though, it's that connection that the driver makes with the car that counts, and I am easily impressed with the Abarth 595 Tourismo. I miss driving it when I'm not. Is that love? MZ
