Youi extends car insurance relief program for a further three months
Australian insurer Youi is extending its car insurance relief program for another three months.
The program offers existing customers a 10 per cent refund on their policy cost and gives new customers the chance to sign up for a discounted rate amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Youi became the first Australian insurer to offer car insurance relief when it originally introduced a 15 per cent premium refund offer for three months from April 1, 2020.
Since then, it says 240,791 car policy holders have accessed the scheme, representing between 40 to 50 per cent of Youi's total car insurance customer base.
The overwhelming response has prompted Youi to offer a further 10 per cent discount on car insurance premiums until October 1, 2020.
Additionally, those who already accessed the 15 per cent discount prior to June 30, 2020, will receive continued relief in the form of the extended 10 per cent discount – without having to reapply for the scheme.
Youi will also extend the relief scheme to its home insurance products, with existing and new home insurance customers also able to receive a 10 per cent refund or discount for three months from July 1, 2020.
Customers with both a home and car insurance policy with Youi can access the 10 per cent relief offer on both.
According to Youi data, it provides coverage for approximately one in 20 cars across all Australian states and territories.
“Since becoming the first Australian insurer to offer car insurance relief we’ve assisted more than 230,000 customers affected by COVID-19, we’re excited to be able to help them even further by extending our support to home insurance,” Youi CEO Hugo Schreuder said in a statement.
“We want all our customers to know that we care and are committed to supporting them through this extremely difficult time. It’s not just our job as an insurer, but it’s also the right thing to do."
