Subaru Impreza 22B STi listed for more than $500,000
The 22-year-old Japanese classic, one of just 424 built, has been driven 434km and is in near-new condition.
A 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B STi has been listed for sale in the UK for £295,000 (approximately AU$526,013).
The 22-year-old car, which was imported new from Japan the year that it was made, is one of just 424 ever built (400 were made for the local Japanese market, and the rest were exported by Subaru).
According to documentation, this particular rare Subaru 22B has been driven just 434km, resaving it in as-new condition.
Powered by a 2.2 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine that produces 205kW of power and 363Nm of torque, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100kmh in a claimed 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of 252kmh.
No mechanical modifications have been made to the car and the rear seats are still fitted with the original plastic protective covering, however the listing says the running gear has “minor surface corrosion in places.”
Routine servicing has reportedly been undertaken since new, despite its low milage.
It is being sold through Appreciatingclassics.com, a UK-based retailer of vintage cars.
A different Subaru 22B STi, which 51,000km on the odometer, was recently listed in Japan (pictured below).
It reportedly found a buyer in less than 24 hours, and was sold for ¥1,5740,000 (just over AU$200,000).
Subaru officially imported five of the 424 original 22B STi cars into Australia.
They were sold new for $125,000 each.
