New images of Peugeot's upcoming 2008 have surfaced online this week, previewing the carmaker's new entrant into the popular compact SUV market.
Teased with the Urban Crossover concept in April last year, and later the near identical 2008 Design Study, the new crossover does not stray far from its concept roots.
As expected, the 2008 continues the evolution of Peugeot's sharp new styling, kicked off by the 2010 SR1 roadster showcar - one concept we'd like to see made a reality.
Just like the SR1, and the new production models that have followed, the 2008 is fronted by slender aggressively-angled headlights, along with a newly simplified but chrome-rich grille design.
The back-end continues the concept-based theme, drawing again on the look of the SR1 while also connecting the new SUV with the recently launched 208 hatch.
Technical details are still to be revealed, but we can likely expect the 2008 to mirror the 4140mm length and 1740mm width of its concept progenitor.
We can also likely expect the 208's engine options to figure with the new SUV, including the familiar turbocharged 1.6 litre petrol engine.
Watch for official details to land in the coming weeks or months.
