Mitsubishi Evo X at Geneva
Mitsubishi has put their proud Evo X concept on display at the Geneva motorshow (its a shame it didn't come to Melbourne!).
Initially on display at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2007, Prototype-X is a design study for the new Lancer Evolution X due to be launched this year.
The Prototype-X is based on the all-new Lancer sports sedan due to be launched in America in March. Mitsubishi says:
The exterior styling forcefully projects the car's ruggedly athletic performance qualities while the strongly function-oriented design and high-quality materials used in the interior encourage the driver to concentrate on operating his machine.
The concept car is set to be a dead ringer for production model Evo X. Mitsubishi has put all its knowledge and automotive engineering technology into this car.
Mechanical features include:
- Mitsubishi's S-AWC (Super All-Wheel Control. : Vehicle dynamics system that integrates control of drive torque, braking, steering and suspension at all four wheels.) built around a 4WD driveline
- a new aluminum block MIVEC turbocharged engine mated to a high-performance six-speed automated manual transmission
- aluminum in some body panels to reduce body weight
