Mercedes-AMG is reportedly planning a four-door version of its GT coupe to be released in 2018.
Automobile Mag in the US reports that the four-door GT would serve as an alternative to the Porsche Panamera, just as the GT rivals Porsche’s 911.
The new model - reportedly called ‘GT4’ but codenamed ‘X290’ to Mercedes insiders - would feature ‘four-door coupe’ styling, but would not simply be a stretched version of the GT.
Benz has the CLS-Class as a similarly-sized four-door coupe, but the GT4 would reportedly offer more extreme styling with performance likely to match.
So while a future GT4 could feature a similar look to the AMG GT, it could potentially sit upon the same platform as the CLS
