Man rear-ends unmarked NSW police car at petrol station
The driver responsible for the collision was issued an infringement notice for negligent driving – with police confirming no one was injured in the incident.
CCTV footage of a driver rear-ending an unmarked police car at a petrol station has emerged online – with authorities confirming no one was injured in the incident.
The incident is believed to have occurred in Croydon – an inner-city suburb approximately 9km west of Sydney – in mid-February.
In the video – published by Sydney radio news outlet 2GB with Ben Fordham – a police officer in uniform can be seen refuelling the Chrysler 300 SRT sedan when a black Toyota sedan drives into the back of the vehicle when turning into a local service station.
The unnamed policeman put his hands in the air, while a passenger in the Toyota Camry XV20 exits the vehicle to investigate the damage – with the rest of the Camry's occupants following suit after reversing away from the police car.
A NSW Police spokesperson told Drive the 28-year-old driver behind the wheel of the Toyota sedan was issued an infringement notice relating to negligent driving – with both parties involved in the incident exchanging details.
While there were no confirmed injuries, the officer was taken to hospital for assessment as a precaution.
Per Drive reports – New South Wales Highway Patrol has begun phasing out the Chrysler 300 SRT V8 from its fleet following the end of right-hand-drive production in the US in 2021.
However, NSW Police say there are still a "large number" of Chrysler 300 SRT sedans used in active duty.
