Kia Picanto facelift unveiled, here in a few months
Australia’s best-selling city car, the Kia Picanto, has had a minor makeover and big lift in technology.
The 2021 Kia Picanto, unveiled in South Korea overnight where it is sold as the Kia Morning, gets a redesigned nose, new tail-lights and rear bumper.
On the technology front, the new Kia Picanto gains the availability of rear cross-traffic alert and blind zone warning, however it is unclear is these features will appear on examples sold in Australia.
Forward crash alert and city-speed autonomous emergency braking are already standard on models sold in Australia and are likely to carry over onto the new model.
The pricing and timing of the new Kia Picanto in Australian showrooms is yet to be announced, but Drive understands the updated model is due in August.
The Kia Picanto has been the best selling car in its class for the past three years in a row, after it overtook the Mitsubishi Mirage in 2017.
The Kia Picanto now sells at 10 times the rate of its nearest rival, as others have pulled out of the cut-throat segment.
