Kia has unveiled a new LPG version of its Picanto light car in Frankfurt this week, steering away from the trend toward turbodiesel and hybrid systems.
While the Picanto Bi-Fuel features Kia's 1.0 litre three-cylinder Kappa petrol engine, the company has used a specific tune to overcome the power drop usually associated with with alternative fuels.
As a result, the Picanto still offers 48kW and 90Nm, while returning a fuel consumption figure of 5.8 l/100km - improving to 5.6 l/100km in models equipped with a stop/start system.
