Jaguar Land Rover is the latest carmaker to cast off the potential shackles of the ‘Brexit’ decision, by reportedly reinforcing its commitment to manufacturing in the UK.
Following the unveiling of the Jaguar I-Pace all-electric SUV concept at the LA Auto Show, JLR has even proposed that it can switch to building EVs.
This would require significant investment, as the carmaker would need to retool existing facilities or construct new plants to meet the challenges that EV-making would bring.
The declaration is also a sideways step from an earlier suggestion that the road-going version of the I-Pace would be built by Magna Steyr in Austria.
A JLR spokeswoman, speaking with industry paper Automotive News, said JLR CEO Ralf Speth was keen to see the company’s future EVs built in the UK.
