Infiniti has revealed details of its updated Q50 sedan for 2016, including an all-new twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine.
Unlike the entry-level 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and the mid-spec 2.2 litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel which are both borrowed from Mercedes-Benz, this new powerplant has been developed in-house and will likely go on to power other Infiniti models.
The turbo four-pot petrol (which gains a stop-start system for 2016) makes 155kW and 350Nm while the diesel is good for 125kW and 400Nm. Infiniti’s new twin-turbo V6 will produce 224kW and 400Nm, while a second version of the same engine will make 298kW and 475Nm.
The Japanese carmaker also offers a 268kW hybrid model in its Q50 range, with internal combustion power coming from a 3.5 litre petrol V6. All powerplants are matched with a seven-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
Besides the new engine, the 2016 Q50 will also bring the second generation Direct Adaptive Steering system along with Dynamic Digital Suspension.
