Full details: 2019 Ford Mustang Ecoboost

Ford has expanded its updated Mustang range with the arrival of the turbo charged Ecoboost variants.

In-line with the V8-powered coupe and convertible variants that arrived in June, the four-cylinder models bring more power than before as well as improved safety, extra equipment and new tech.

Now priced from $49,990 (plus on-road costs) as a Fastback coupe fitted with a six-speed manual transmission, the entry point to Ford's pony car stable has increased by $5000 since it first launched in 2015.

The 2.3-litre Ecoboost engine has been updated for the 2019 model year Mustang, with peak power increased to 224kW and maximum torque is lifted to 441Nm.

Like the V8, it can be optioned with a 10-speed automatic transmission for an extra $3000.

All models feature revised front styling with new LED headlights, an angrier-looking bumper and vents in the bonnet, while the rear end has a modified bumper with signature three-bar tail lights and a black diffuser that cradles the quad-tip exhaust system.

“Mustang needs no introduction, and the arrival of the EcoBoost models means that we now have the full gamut of performance options for Australian enthusiasts,” said Ford Australia and New Zealand President and CEO, Kay Hart.

“With its turbocharged engine, Mustang EcoBoost adds an advanced 224kW powertrain to that unmistakable, iconic Mustang design.”

Inside, the Mustang picks up a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and improvements to the quality of materials used to elevate the ambience of the cabin.

And there's a raft of additional safety features, now including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistance.

The Mustang is also available as a convertible, exclusively with the 10-speed automatic, for $59,490 (plus on-road costs).
