Ferrari SP48 Unica: One-off Italian supercar revealed
A wealthy long-term Ferrari customer has commissioned their dream supercar from the marque.
Italian supercar maker Ferrari has pulled the covers off its latest one-off customer project; the SP48 Unica.
The name translates to ‘Unique’ in English – however, the two-seater isn't a ground-up new vehicle.
Conceived “under the direction of” designer Flavio Manzoni, the Ferrari is underpinned by a series-production F8 Tributo, but clothed in new sheetmetal.
The wheelbase and hardpoints are unchanged – but there's all-new sheetmetal, with the grille, headlights, and air inlets all swapped out for custom parts.
Inside, both seats, door cards, and the dashboard are trimmed in a “specially developed” perforated black Alcantara.
The rest of the interior does not differ dramatically from the car on which it is based, however carbon-fibre highlights feature throughout.
While not specified in Ferrari press material, it’s almost certain the SP48 Unica retains the F8 Tributo’s rear-mounted 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8.
In standard guise the engine sends 530kW/770Nm to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
This permits a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of 2.9 seconds, on the way to a top speed of approximately 340km/h.
It’s unclear who commissioned the SP48 Unica, or how much the process cost from beginning to end.
However, in a media statement Ferrari said the "long-term client was deeply involved in every step of its creation."
Ferrari has increased production of custom models in recent years, and in late 2021 revealed the one-off V12-engined BR20.
