5-Star ANCAP Safety For Jaguar F-Pace
Jaguar’s first SUV picks-up maximum safety rating.
The safety scores are in for the Jaguar F-Pace and according to the Australiasian New Car Assesment Program (ANCAP) the medium SUV takes home its maximum five-star rating.
Based on physical crash tests conducted by Euro NCAP, the F-Pace collected a 93 percent adult occupant protection rating, an 85 percent child occupant protection rating, and an 80 percent pedestrian protection rating.
In the full width frontal test ANCAP rates front passenger protection as good or acceptable, but steps rear passenger chest protection down to a marginal result. Frontal offset tests resulted in acceptable ratings for driver chest and driver and front passenger lower legs, with good protection for all other areas.
On the safety equipment front the F-Pace comes standard with six airbags, front and rear outboard seatbelt pretensioners, autonomous emergency braking including pedestrian protection, tyre pressure monitoring, and lane keeping assist.
Features like 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and driver fatigue detection, are also optionally available, but don’t form part of the F-Pace’s safety score.
ANCAP CEO James Goodwin praised both the standard equipment, and the crashworthiness of the F-Pace.
“High scores were achieved in all physical crash tests and performance assessments,” Mr Goodwin said. “AEB is provided as a standard feature along with forward collision and lane departure warning systems.”
The five-star rating applies to all variants from the F-Pace’s July 2016 introduction onwards.
