The 2023 BMW 3 Series range will be hit with price rises of between $5400 and $10,100 – with some additional standard features – when the facelifted model arrives in showrooms next month.
Revealed in May, the facelifted 3 Series will undergo a considerable price rises compared to the outgoing model, with BMW hitting the entry-level 320i sedan with a $5400 hike – now starting from $78,900 plus on-road costs.
The biggest price hikes – $10,100 – have been applied to the BMW 330i sedan and 330i Touring wagon, now priced from $93,400 and $97,400 plus on-road costs respectively.
The last price increase for the BMW 320i came last month, rising from $71,900 to $73,500 – for a total increase since the model launched in 2019 of $14,000, having been on sale for $64,900 plus on-road costs three years ago.
The BMW 330i sedan and Touring have risen in price by $22,500 and $23,500 respectively over the last three years, from their respective low points of $70,900 and $73,900 in 2019.
The updated BMW 330e plug-in hybrid starts from $97,400, an increase of $7100 compared to the pre-facelift variant, and $21,500 above its 2019 launch price.
While its 3 Series range-mates have gone up in price, the flagship BMW M340i xDrive has been reduced by $8700 with the arrival of the facelift, now priced from $104,900 plus on-road costs.
BMW has dropped two variants of the 3 Series for 2023 – the M340i xDrive Pure (previously priced from $103,600) – as well as the Sport Collection special editions.
As previously reported, the facelifted 3 Series gains a number of minor cosmetic updates, from reshaped kidney grilles, reworked LED headlights with inverted daytime-running light signatures and tweaked 18- and 19-inch wheels.
At the rear, a new lower bumper is fitted with body-coloured elements, while trapezoidal exhaust tips are equipped as standard on variants with the M Sport package.
The M Sport includes additional cosmetic changes such as a mesh grille pattern and black mirror caps, while the higher-equipped M Sport Pro package adds black exterior accents for the grille, windows and headlights, plus M Sport performance brakes with red calipers.
Inside the 3 Series, the cabin gains BMW's iDrive 8 twin-screen dashboard, teaming a 14.9-inch infotainment screen with a 12.3-inch digital instrument display within an integrated curved panel.
The range of petrol engines previously available carries across to the updated model, with the 320i retaining its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 135kW and 400Nm.
A higher-output version of this engine is available in the BMW 330i – developing 190kW and 400Nm – while the 330e adds an electric motor to the 320i's version of the 2.0-litre engine, helping the hybrid to produce 215kW and 420Nm.
The BMW M340i xDrive is now available as a single variant, with its 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine leading the pack with 285kW and 500Nm. Details of an updated M3 hero variant are yet to be revealed.
All variants of the BMW 3 Series are equipped with an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, delivering drive to the rear wheels in all grades bar the all-wheel-drive M340i xDrive.
