2022 Mazda 2 price and specs

The 2022 Mazda 2 has received a mild update, less than 12 months ahead of a rumoured next-generation model's arrival.

Announced in September, the revised Mazda 2 gains a new G15 Pure SP hatch variant, which adds black 16-inch alloy wheels, black mirror caps, a black grille, chrome exhaust outlet extension, and unique black cloth upholstery with red accents.

Other updates include the addition of rear seatbelt reminders across all variants – in line with new Australian Design Rule regulations – plus a new Platinum Quartz Metallic colour for both body styles (shared with other Mazda models), and the expansion of the hatchback's Polymetal Grey colour to the sedan.

Prices have risen by $200 across the range, with the G15 Pure sedan no longer available with a six-speed manual – leaving the entry-level hatch as the only model with three pedals.

All Mazda 2 models in Australia are powered by the same 1.5-litre non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine, sending 82kW and 144Nm to the front wheels through an available six-speed manual in the base G15 Pure hatch, or a six-speed automatic in all other models.

Claimed combined fuel consumption ranges from 5.3 to 5.4 litres per 100 kilometres with automatic and manual transmissions respectively.

Colours available at no additional cost include Sonic Silver Metallic, Deep Crystal Blue Mica, Jet Black Mica, Snowflake White Pearl Mica and Platinum Quartz Metallic, with Polymetal Grey Metallic, Soul Red Metallic or Machine Grey Metallic available for an additional $495 each.
