Cut-price Indian automaker, Mahindra, has updated its Genio pickup for the 2018 model year with a new Euro 5 compliant diesel engine headlining the update.
Matched exclusively to a five-speed manual transmission, the updated 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine produces the same 88kW and 280Nm as earlier versions.
The move to Euro 5 emissions compliance also brings an engine stop/start system which improves fuel consumption figures, with the single cab model now consuming 7.5 l/100km compared to a previous figure of 8.6 l/100km while dual cab versions drop to 8.1 l/100km, down from 8.6 l/100km.

Standard features include two airbags, stability and traction control, hill ascent and descent control with rollover mitigation, steel wheels with a full-size spare, cruise control with steering wheel controls, air conditioning, power windows, and a double DIN audio unit with CD, MP3, radio, SD card, and USB playback.
An optional Tradie Pack adds Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity and dual USB charging sockets while alloy wheels, floor mats, canvas seat covers, tow bar, nudge bar, or bull bar accessories are also available.
