2017 Renault Megane wagon revealed ahead of Australian launch
The new 2017 Renault Megane wagon has been revealed this week, in the lead-up to its Geneva motor show debut on March 1.
Previewed by a shadowy teaser just days ago, the new small wagon’s online unveiling today also follows the Frankfurt motor show debut of the new Megane hatch in September last year.
As expected, the 2017 Renault Megane wagon follows in the footsteps of its predecessor by adding roof rails and a more practical load-hauling back-end to the regular hatch model, while retaining a fast look with a tapered roofline - the go-to sports styling trick for most modern wagons.
As with the hatch, the 2017 Megane wagon range will be headlined by the GT model, driven by a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine producing 151kW of power and 280Nm of torque.
At the regular commuting end of the range, the wagon will get the hatch’s 97kW/205Nm petrol 1.2-litre and 81kW/240Nm 1.5-litre diesel engines.
Full details on the new Megane wagon won’t be revealed until next week’s Geneva motor show, but we can of course expect rear storage - the wagon’s key selling point for those not simply drawn to the look - to go beyond the 434 litres offered with the hatch model. In the current model, that means 524 litres with the rear seats up, and 1600 litres when folded flat.

The new Megane wagon is scheduled to hit Australia in 2017.
