2017 Nissan Pathfinder facelift unveiled, coming to Australia first half of 2017
The facelifted Nissan Pathfinder crossover made its debut overnight in the US with a refreshed face and a heavily updated V6 engine.
Under the bonnet, the 3.5-litre V6 is claimed have 56 per cent new parts with redesigned pistons, intake manifold, and combustion chambers. There are also new direct injection and valve timing systems.
In the US, power has been bumped up to 212kW from 194kW, while torque is now rated at 351Nm, up from from 325Nm.
Nissan USA claims that braked towing capacity is now 2720 kilograms, up from 2268kg. Australian versions of the current Pathfinder have a braked towing capacity of 2700kg.
Visually, the revised Pathfinder features new, slimmer headlights with dash of extra visual flair. They flank a revised grille that features three horizontal black bars and a thinner chrome frame. The front bumper has also been revised with squarer details than before.
Along the flanks, the Pathfinder sports new wing mirrors with integrated turn signals, as well as new designs for the 18- and 20-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, there's an updated bumper with sharper features and new tail-light graphics that are predominantly red.
On the inside, the Pathfinder is now fitted with a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Satellite navigation with voice recognition is standard on some models.
There's also an updated multi-function display in the instrument panel, which incorporates extra infotainment system connectivity and driver assistance features.
Other new features for the Pathfinder include moving object detection for the surround view camera system, and a tailgate that pops open automatically when a foot is waved under the rear bumper.

The updated Pathfinder will go on sale in the US from the third quarter of 2016.
Nissan Australia has confirmed to CarAdvice that the revised crossover will arrive down under during the first half of 2017.
