2017 Mercedes-AMG E43, Mercedes-Benz E350e pricing and specs
Performance-focused petrol and extra-green plug-in hybrid sedans to touch down in February
Australian pricing has been revealed for the new Mercedes-AMG E43 and Mercedes-Benz E350e plug-in hybrid models, ahead of their February arrival.
Launching at both ends of the motoring spectrum, the two new E-Class variants should prove appealing to green-minded and sports-focused buyers alike.
Today's news follows the July launch of the entry-level E200 petrol and E220d variants, along with the more powerful E350d diesel option.
AMG E43 4Matic
The turbocharged six-cylinder AMG E43 4Matic was revealed in March as the latest offering in the growing range of 'entry-level' AMG models, most sitting beneath a flagship 63-badged variant.
Priced from $159,900 before on-road costs, the 295kW/520Nm E43 will enter the Australian line-up as its most expensive variant. That is, until the newly revealed 450kW/850Nm E63 S arrives in the third quarter of next year. As with its 430kW/800Nm predecessor, expect pricing for that hero model to go beyond $250,000.
The 0-100km/h sprint is listed at a speedy 4.6 seconds for the E43, but the bigger spend on the E63 will get you there in just 3.4 seconds.
Highlights of the E43's standard features list will include Nappa Leather upholstery, Air-Balance package, AMG body styling, AMG 4Matic all-wheel drive, 20-inch AMG wheels, a sports exhaust system and a sports braking system.

E350e Plug-in Hybrid
The E43 will be joined in February by the E350e Plug-in Hybrid, powered by a four-cylinder petrol engine matched to an electric motor and a 9G-tronic nine-speed automatic, claiming a combined system output of 210kW and "up to" 550Nm of torque.
That variant, priced from $131,600 before on-road costs, will list fuel consumption figures of 2.4L/100km on the combined cycle and an all-electric driving range of up to 30 kilometres.
By comparison, the less powerful but much torquier 190kW/620Nm 3.0-litre six-cylinder E350d diesel is a more expensive prospect from $134,900, with fuel usage figures of 5.1L/100km.
And, for those inclined, the E350e claims a 0-100km/h time of 6.2 seconds, while the E350d is a shade quicker at 5.9 seconds.
Standout standard features in the E350e will include Air Body Control air suspension, panoramic glass sunroof and a pre-entry climate control system.
