Honda's ninth-generation Civic sedan, revealed just two years ago and launched in Australia earlier this year, has been given a facelift for the US.
While the new Civic range continues to sell well globally, the sedan's understated styling (compared to the hatch, at least) is now to be replaced with a fresh more-youthful look for the competitive North American small-car market.
For 2013, the American-market Civic takes a tip from the brand-new Accord, adopting a larger chrome-framed grille and picking up new bumpers and re-shaped tail-lights.
"The 2013 Honda Civic exterior refinements infuse Civic with a more youthful, premium style," Vicki Poponi, assistant vice president of product planning for American Honda, said.
"Coupling these with additional changes beneath will ensure that Civic maintains its top-ranked status."
Mechanically, the Civic sedan remains unchanged.
Australia
Speaking with TMR today, Honda Australia's Melissa Cross that this update - built for the North American market at Honda's Indiana, USA, plant - is not currently planned for Australia or other global markets.
The newest model in Honda's Australian line-up is the all-new CR-V SUV, while the Jazz Hybrid and all-new Accord are on their way.
