There are various factors that must be taken into consideration when travelling with your dog. To show you the dos and don'ts, Alexa and I took a drive around Melbourne in the Mini JCW Countryman.
Dog Trainer, Darren Favretto, shared some necessary tips with us on how to travel safely and comfortably with your dog. While this may seem like common sense, a friendly reminder never hurt anyone.
When travelling with your dog, make sure you do the following:
- Tire them out
- Make them familiar with your car, especially if it's brand-new
- Restrain them even in the back seat, making sure the harness is fitted properly
- Use bedding they are familiar with
- Connect the harness firmly to the seatbelt or bed
When travelling with your dog, make sure you don't do the following:
- Leave them unattended, no matter the temperature
- Accelerate or stop suddenly
- Play with your dog. Even though it may be tempting, always keep your eyes on the road
