- 2024 Volvo EX30 pricing and specifications
- Small electric SUV available in three models
- LED lights, 12.3-inch screen, advanced safety across the range
- Priced from $59,990 plus on-road costs
The 2024 Volvo EX30 city electric SUV will be priced from $59,990 plus on-road costs when it arrives in Australian showrooms later this year.
The EX30 will be Volvo's smallest and most affordable electric car in Australia, undercutting the larger XC40 Recharge Pure Electric priced from $76,990 plus on-road costs.
It is priced in line with a Tesla Model 3, which costs $61,300 plus on-road costs in rear-wheel-drive form, and offers comparable driving range – though it is a larger and better-equipped vehicle.
For full details on the EX30 – including its design, interior, technology and full specifications – click here to read Drive's coverage of its global unveiling overseas last night.
Australia will be offered three variants of the EX30: two rear-wheel-drive versions, and an all-wheel-drive performance flagship with more than 300kW.
All Australia-bound examples will use the larger of the two battery packs available for the EX30 globally, a 69kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt unit – eschewing the entry-level 51kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery available overseas.
Rear-wheel-drive models use a 200kW/343Nm electric motor good for 480km of claimed driving range in European WLTP lab testing.
The all-wheel-drive variant steps up to dual motors developing 315kW and 543Nm combined, good for 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.6 seconds, and 460km of claimed WLTP driving range.
DC charging at up to 153kW is available, said to enable a 10 to 80 per cent fast charge in about 30 minutes for all models.
Standard equipment on the entry-level Plus includes LED headlights, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and various Google apps, digital key functionality, a reversing camera, wireless phone charging, a power-operated tailgate, parking sensors, Harman Kardon stereo, and a full suite of advanced safety technology.
As reported previously, there is no instrument cluster or head-up display – instead key driving data such as speed and battery charge is shown on the central screen, akin to a Tesla – while the front speakers have been omitted in favour of a house-like soundbar across the dashboard.
Upgrading to the Ultra models adds a fixed panoramic glass roof, automatic parking, 360-degree camera, power-adjustable heated front seats, rear privacy glass, and a heated steering wheel.
The Performance Ultra version further includes 20-inch alloy wheels, up from the standard car's circa-19-inch alloys.
The first examples of the 2024 Volvo EX30 are due in Australia later this year, with "volume deliveries" set to commence early next year, according to a company spokesperson.
